Darker than black

Tell it to the woses and enbalm the lillies in hair
to the withered dark black roses on the crumbled castles stairs.
Who has seen a mare? The night is still young and I stare

The moon is so high the ravine is so deep - I can hear the sea:
She morns and she weeps. I could step a pace and have a leap
so long my friends, as the darkness creeps...

To engulf in hatred to wreac havoc in distrust
"Lets go to the Future!" starting the harrowing thrust.
All the faces are pale like a clown who's not sane
and the mask is crumbling its ivory crust.

Darker than black are the days of old, darker than black all the memories cold,
Alice is dead and Humpty is broken; the cat lost its head and the Queen outspoken!
Who is yet left and who has his face all is lost without a trace and no truce be told
